By using ultra-short pulse lasers for precision machining, fine structures (micro and nano) are created on metal surfaces to impart a water-repellent effect and modify the surface. Water and oil repellency leads to improved functionality, such as preventing product seizure and rust. The technology for adding fine structures to metal surfaces can also be applied to components that require reduced friction and improved sliding properties.
